I confess I'm a little bit in love with this photo. I've spent years trying to take a pic that does our magnolia tree justice but the flowers and sky always end up being washed out. The tree is it's past its best really (as seen in yesterday's shot) and although I was watching individual blooms glow prettily in the evening light last night I was pinned down by poorly Monty (he really needs to get better soon before he starts believing he's a lap dog) so I missed the moment. However, inspired by all the lovely shots I've been admiring on 365, I got my camera out for one last try and realised that on next door's side of the fence the flowers were still getting the sun - so this is taken paparazzi style standing on a bench, with a zoom lens to get the DOF, while the superstars shone in the limelight.
This photo is sheer perfection, Judith. The lighting is simply magical and the dof is marvelous! The soft pink color is so gorgeous. I love everything about this shot. Well done, tulip magnolia paparazzi!
Will try to find out something about Monty and his condition as I look back in your album of earlier postings. Do hope it's nothing terribly serious...

Fantastic photo. I love it when I fall in love with one of my pictures. For days I will go back to it and just be really proud of a moment well captured.
Your 'last try' was most definitely the shot of perfection!!! You've captured the delicacy & color of the petals superbly! One of the best flower pics I have ever seen....well worth the wait!!!!!!
