Nigel, Monty and I took ourselves off to some remarkably unmuddy countryside East of Newmarket today. The circular route from Dalham to Moulton and back via Gazeley is known as 'Three churches' and features pretty villages, grand estates, sweeping country views (for this part of the world), ancient woodland and lots of birdlife.
Huge thanks for the lovely comments and favs on my recent pics - they are all very much appreciated. I have a bit of organising to do for an earlyish trip to London tomorrow but should be able to catch up with you later.
Three good things:
1. Monty was on lead when we encountered pheasants, hares, deer and turkey (think it had escaped from somewhere).
2. Six beautiful little racehorse foals and their mums in Gazeley (hedge too high for pics :0( )
3. The church in Gazeley has help yourself cafe - fairtrade goodies and an honesty box.
That is beautiful, and that was a lot of animals to see on one trip and the help yourself cafe is a lovely idea, I firmly believe there are more honest than dishonest among us.
I often wonder that between walking the dog & going out specifically for photos, how far we walk these days? A very pretty little church surrounded by lovely grounds.
Enjoy your trip to London & of course you will take your camera but mustn't be doing too many as you are on a celebration for your sister not a photo op..........we sometimes think only of photos!! LOL !
@happypat I know - only taking one lens so that I behave myself!! And my-brother-law is always stopping to take pics so she won't want me doing it as well!
An absolutely charming sight at the end of the roadway...love this!! And I love the idea of a help yourself café with an honesty box. Such a delightful all 'round post, Judith.
I like the Autumnish colours here - what strange weather we're having. I was hoping to get out for a walk today but went to the allotment instead. It was pretty cold but we soon warmed up.
I like the colours and inviting path here. Hard to believe this is a spring shot! Still cant get over our weather. I think I might take to my bed for the rest of April and see what May brings
@lucypics I know... But there was life starting to appear in the wood (about right for Feb!) and there were actually flowers and leaf buds popping up all over Cambridge yesterday. Cheering if it wasn't also freezing!! I get excited now when I see '8' in the forecast....
What a graceful building and so nicely framed by the trees. That walking route sounds really nice, and so is a church that has found a way to provide refreshments without requiring someone to volunteer there at all times.
