Well a quite definite improvement over yesterday's weather but still an icy wind keeping people off the river. I was going to do a punt 'diptych' - such a good theme idea - but there were no moving boats to be seen. I feel like I'm being a terrible 365er at the moment - absolutely run off my feet again today - hopefully with both offspring doing sporty stuff tomorrow I'll have a bit more time. In the meantime I really do appreciate you taking the time to comment.
Five good things:
1. House cleaned
2. Ironing done
3. Work done well enough to hold off until Monday....
4. A cat on my knee
5. 75% through a really excellent book - 'The Hand That First Held Mine' by Maggie O'Farrell. A book club choice and I'll definitely be reading some more of her. Strong suspicion that there might be tears before bedtime though...
Beautiful tartan linings & cushions in those punts very on trend with the tartan!!! Lets hope it won't be long before they are in use & we can enjoy more of your punting pictures.
You have lots on so don't worry about the commenting bit....can't do everything you know!!! I have heard of Maggie Farrell & seen her books but I don't think I have actually read any... will put it on my wish list, thanks for the tip!
So great to have a good book on the go...I just look forward to snuggling up in bed with my hot water bottle & having a good read, then of course my eyes start nodding off!!
This is gorgeous Judith....and as for commenting...we'll all survive!!! Love the tartan and the boater and Peter's comment.....has a real summer feel to it...good job I can't feel the wind!
Great shot of the punts, the tartan and the boater. As for all the jobs, 365 and reading - I've no idea how you fit it all in? (You are not allowed to mention multi-tasking in any reply). Jules loved the book you're reading and has bought more by Maggie O'Farrell. She buys handfuls from the NT Bookshop at a local stately home. I can judge how much she likes a book, apart from finishing it, in that they don't get donated back. She still has this one :)
Oh, this shot is just waiting for some tourists to come and populate it. Like the others, I think the tartan really sets the punts off nicely. It's been years since I've been in one of those boats and think that perhaps the hot summer that we are due will be the ideal time. Thanks for the tip about the book - just downloaded it as had finished the book I was reading and like to read books that have been recommended by someone who has enjoyed them.
I got it from the library yesterday! What with me and @suesmith and @happypat you're like the 365 Richard & Judy! Didn't intend to borrow it actually (heeded that it might be a bit near the new-mother knuckle, and was actually looking for @jantan 's recommendation of Harold Fry) but they didn't have that in, and then it jumped out when I was browsing for another so I went for it. Hoping to read it during hols this week coming. I will pack tissues...
This is a lovely shot. Absolutely love Maggie O'Farrell. I have read three or four of hers and loved them all - all sad tho. Just finished The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey - loved it. Just about to download a new book so will give The Hand....... a go. Trouble is I listen to most of mine these days (Audible.Co) and if I am crying while I am out and about it looks a bit weird. @jewelsandbinoculars
@jantan@jewelsandbinoculars You'll be alright till the end - and even then I've been worse - I was fit to do karate pick up within about 15 min of finishing! Have just downloaded the one about the elderly aunt - will have to try Snow Child - though I may have to rename it Spring Child as snow is so last week...,
