The Chelsea Flower Show has lifted its ban on garden gnomes for one year only. Lots of celebrities have decorated gnomes which will be sold for charity and it's sparked a discussion of the noble German history of the gnome! So I thought I'd wander over to the Dept of Criminology in Cambridge because I happen to know that they have their own gnome in their rather trendy modern garden. I may have managed a funky composition if Monty hadn't been alternately barking and drinking the ornamental pond. I was hoping for a rather subtler approach...
3GT's
1. I didn't forget the Govs' meeting.
2. Texted Rachel a few times.
3. Adam's head didn't explode during his enormous exam day.
Hi Judith, I havent been doing this for so long - mainly computer being very difficult but also being a bit in need of a break from it. I think I'll start again though. Will look through your photos to see what youve been up to!
I have not been a fan of gnomes but this one has a rather happy & cute face...looking very surprised to be sitting in the garden belonging to the Department of Criminology!! One more exam behind you all!!!
@lauralatham Ooh hello - I was just wondering how you were doing this afternoon as I walked past Clare's DNA statue. We should have a proper Cambridge gathering - there's quite a crowd of us now.
He looks a suitably inquisitive gnome for his location! I find it quite bizarre to lift the gnome ban for just one year. One of our elderly neighbours had lots of gnomes in his front garden but they have all gnone somewhere..................
This gnome reminds me of a volunteer who comes into work. He looks just like a gnome and I could just imagine him sitting here with this one! Gave me a little giggle thinking about it! Great shot
Funny! Someone once got a gnome stolen and it then sent a postcard from every destination he visited to his owners. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound!
@fueast oh my, have you tried living with a super stressed hormonal teenager that despite hours of revision doesn't know ANYTHING and is going to get a U in EVERYTHING? Honestly think I'd rather mark them!
That's a familiar face -- Is it Doc? Several (no more than several) years ago I was in Cambridge for a Children's literature conference and while exploring side streets I came upon a little cottage with a yard absolutely bursting with gnomes of all shapes and sizes. I have a picture somewhere.
I have very few ornaments in my garden. For some reason, if I put anything there it looks cheap and trashy, but when others do it, it is chic and trendy.
He used to have train station signs too!
There's a ban on garden gnomes??? ;)
