Montana by judithg

Montana

You've got to love clematis montana - robust, spreads like a weed, flowers for England and makes any old rubbishy climbing frame look stunning. It's all over at the moment and this one is in our garden. There's something not quite right about this photo - the main flower seems to be a bit faded out but to be honest I've had too much Chardonnay to care. Adam has gone off to indoor hockey followed by Great Gatsby at the cinema (I'm so impressed that the first thing they've all done in a lull in exams is go to watch their GCSE text (after the exam) - no doubt helped by JayZ's music but even so) so Nigel and I took ourselves out to 'Cau' for Argentinian steaks.
3GT
1. a sunny evening after another day with granite skies.
2. Cycling to the restaurant to justify some extra calories.
3. Mum and dad hopefully all packed up and ready for the off (I haven't heard otherwise).
I like it pale like this! They are a wonderful type of clematis and great for all angles of photograph! What a nice idea - to cycle to a restaurant!

I see what you mean...maybe a few too many branches distracting the eye and though the stamen of the central flower are perfect, the fade loses something in translation. Glad you had a fun eve

@maggiemae Well the wine has a lot to do with the decision to cycle - and it only takes 10 min or so to get to the centre of the city - uphill home though which wasn't quite so good!

Wonderful shot, especially viewed large. I love the softness of the 'centrepiece' flower with its lovely yellow stamens. Gorgeous!

Very pretty colours. You lush. I could really go a glass but nothing in and can't be bothered to go to the shops! Must stock up.

Love the dreamy tones.

It looks rather muted but I think it's a very pretty olde worlde look which is very attractive. Love clematis & I haven't got nearly enough in my garden...must remedy that this year. A cycle for a steak sounds great & you could have as much wine as you wished...can they breathalyse you on a bike?

@happypat They can and they can put points on your driving license if you're drunk!

The colour pallette in this is I think is exqusite. Really nicely done, Judith.
May 22nd, 2013
Beautiful and soft looking.
May 22nd, 2013
I'm a bit puzzled, Judith? Is it 3GTs OR 3 G&Ts?! A very stylish wisteria shot!
May 22nd, 2013
p.s. Oh dear, mine was sauvignon blanc tonight and I now recognise clematis montana - time to sign off for the night, methinks!

@quietpurplehaze We must be lightweights!

@judithg

I definitely am - can only really handle a glass and a half. Sleep well!!

Now I have clematis flowering for England and hiding an I attractive fence but i can't photograph it like this!! Just stunning. Love the way you have processed this.

I thought at first that 3GT was three gin and tonics!! Love the photo, so soft and ethereal.
May 22nd, 2013
Lovely toning
May 22nd, 2013
Love the colours and muted feel to this - very, very nice :)
May 22nd, 2013
I love this, so soft and says English countryside to me. were you drinking and cycling??
May 22nd, 2013
Beautiful tones. Love the soft feel of this. :)
May 22nd, 2013
Pretty good focus for Chardonnay!

Love the mix of buds, open flower and darker shade, pretty shot. We have a Montana over Arbour that's usually covered with flower but sadly not this year. Think it must have got back in the autumn by mistake.

This is lovely photo of a lovely plant. Don't know what mine are called but they are pathetic!

Sounds like a lovely evening was had by all! Just love clematis, have it planted all over my garden and the buds are bursting. So fed up with these leaden skies although it did look a little brighter this morning....gone now!

I like clematis a lot - it strikes me as quite blowsy and unapologetic, like here: "I AM A FLOWER"

Careful, we have a mate what got done for drink-cycling...

So my meeting in London is on the 6th June. I could be up for skiving on either the 5th or the 7th if people are around and I can get a dog sitter. Let me know what you think.
May 23rd, 2013
Haha! Love it - too much Chardonnay to care!!! Nicely done anyway!
May 23rd, 2013
@fueast Aargh - don't think I dare commit - Nigel travelling every week and the exams still on.... Sorry :0(
May 23rd, 2013
I really, really like the post-processing you did here! Do calories really need justification other than being in yummy food ;)?
May 23rd, 2013
Love the faded coloursin this one xx
May 23rd, 2013
Ooooh, how nice to be overdosed on Chardonnay! Clematis would look good in it's own right, but I like how you have created a cross processed effect here!
May 24th, 2013
no clematis yet in our garden judith :( ...nice petals
May 24th, 2013
I feel like the composition works really well. My eye travels from the center of the large flower up and across to the in focus leaf and back to the flower. That feel right to me plus I love the soft colors. I would love to have this plant in my garden.
