Two of my boys waiting for me to get on and take a photo in Corpus Christi. It reminds me of when Nigel was younger and people used to say that he looked like a model for a Grattan catalogue! My third boy was playing hockey with the senior 2nd city team and enjoying it despite being nervous about the step up. A filler here because all my attempts at an arty 'blackberries in bowl' still life were useless and then I was out at a 'new 6th form parents' evening at school - quite a jolly affair where you sort of circulated until you found your child's new tutor. I also managed to find the head of biology and congratulate her on the incredible 98% A*/A pass rate (83% A*) across the 145 Year 11 pupils last year.
Sounds a great school Judith with very high standards, I suppose being in Cambridge every one expects a lot! The biology head must be an excellent & inspired teacher.
I think you might have sneaked this photo of ''the boys'' in on the quiet....a lovely pink sweater your man is modelling!! Do you do mail order?
@happypat Yes - very good school and teachers but still a lot of individual hard work required - 120 of them are boys as well - not true that they don't have a work ethic! Mind you 55% of the girls school got A* across the board - trouble is you can get fantastic results and still feel a bit rubbish in that environment!! I'll put Nigel in the post!
Pillar box red is a fab colour judith and you've captured it well....Grattan Catalogues ...i just googled it ..they still do them !!!! Excellent GCSE results ..... I know all about education now and all the 'key stages' having worked in school since March :)
Great shot - I like the slice of letterbox and the contrast between foreground and background. I remember going to my first parents' evening at Hills Rd having forgotten to pick up list of teachers. Pre mobile phones I had the embarrassment of having to ask at each subject area who was teaching g my daughter.
Again, a beautiful red!! Love the sharp focus on the mailbox (BTW, I would not have known that, as the ones we have here in the US are blue!), and the out of focus waiting lads!
