Another shot from yesterday. A bicycle at the Houses of Parliament - maybe Boris has popped in. It's an amazing building close up (and from a distance).
I've been absolutely zonked today - I didn't sleep well during the week because my neighbour told me he's building an enormous garden office that will run along our fence and, I suspect, cut out a lot of our limited light. I'm hoping I can negotiate with him to take some branches off his walnut tree to compensate. I know this is a middle class problem and people are worried about putting food on the table so I'm trying hard to get over myself.
Three GT:
1. Just squeezed in a theme shot - I try to make the effort now and again
2. Another gorgeous Autumn day
3. I didn't actually break my ankle when I turned it after missing a step taking Monty down for a drink in the river....
No planning needed I am amazed.......that is worrying, we have always had to have planning. I don't blame you one bit if you are NIMBY I would be too!!!
Lovely sepia tones here which really show the stonework off so well....that bike must have known you were coming!!!
@fueast@jo13 Well he's already got a massive ugly one of those - and the government has almost done away with planning permission for them. It's going to be 5m long - there are loads of tall trees and shrubs he could put it behind but it's going in the bit without trees and he's chopping off a branch from our magnolia to fit it in. It made me quite depressed - I've charged Nigel with making sure he sinks it as low as possible - when we did ours (small and tucked behind trees so next door can't even see it) it had to be 1m from the fence which would help but they seem to have abandoned that rule.
Very stressful, I fell out with ours over my beloved guinea fowl. Any tension causes such stress with neighbours. Good luck! Great shot of beautiful Cambridge, with beautiful lamps, windows and architecture.
Lovely shot of parliament (and rather tasteful bike!). Sorry to hear about the construction project - that sort of thing is such a nightmare. Aren't there any light regulations or covenants or anything you can bring into play?
We have a similar problem but ours is to do with huge trees! We like trees and have some of our own but our neighbours trees are massive and they have grown conifers between them so we don't get any sun in our garden now. It's so infuriating as they won't even discuss it with us but just say "they like their privacy!". We like our privacy but trimming the conifer trees to 6ft would still mean that they are private. The beech trees and others tower over our house and if they blow down in a gale would destroy our conservatory and our roof!
Fab Houses of Parliament building Judith....you have every right to worry about light in your garden....I asked our neighbour to cut back a big tree that was casting long shadows over our garden ...I am sure your neighbour negotiating skills are top class
@rosiekind Rosie, oh dear , i feel sorry for you ......sunlight in our gardens is so important ....for plants, for warmth and well because sitting in the garden on a beautiful afternoon is so very english :(

I'm glad you didn't break your ankle!
Don't let that neighbour drive you crazy! Good luck!
