Nigel and I spent the morning attacking the garden. It's something of a relentless task at this time of year - we finish one part, look round and there's another pile of leaves/weeds/pruning. And we only have to glance up and see the number of leaves still on the trees to know that by tomorrow it will look pretty much the same as before we started. But Nigel cut the grass - hopefully the last time before winter, and I tidied and replanted a few pots and planters so proper progress was made - and, for this afternoon at least, it looks very neat and tidy. As Monty had been 'helping' all morning I let him have a snooze while I put a brisket of beef in the oven to slow cook and it was 3ish by the time we ventured out. 3ish seems to be almost dusk at the moment and a bit dark for photos. But here we have Jesus Green plane trees with what appears, misleadingly, to be a patient dog.
Three GT:
1. I've joined the three of us up to The Arts Cinema - if we go to see three films we actually save money. Our Sunday night cinema sessions are becoming a happy routine - off to see The Butler tomorrow.
2. Fresh air and exercise have permitted a bit of Galaxy chocolate.
3. One of my readers asked me if fairies really exist - I think I waffled enough that she still wont know either way.
PS Definitely needs large due to the stretchiness...
Perfect look down this path and on either side with the golden leaves and the spread of green in the distance! Something to Iook forward to is always good - cinema!
Such a lovely spot - colours are great.v. Impressed by your progress in the garden - as forecast I haven't made any progress since last week. Have a pile of bulbs to go in but was too exhausted today to even contemplate arguing with Luna about her inevitably digging them up! I jus hope it doesn't rain tomorrow
All Monty needs is a stripy coat and we can play where's Wally! Love the way you have captured the trees and the leaves on the ground, I seem to zoom in and do one or the other! Fav
What a good boy! Having spent an annoying half hour chasing our suddenly deaf again now Bonfire night is over dog around the village this afternoon I envy you a dog that will wait for you like that.
Now you've done so well with the garden, can you please finish mine off now?! Lovely photo - Monty looks cute in that and it reminds me of 'where's wally?'! '-)
Really like how the trunk on the right seems to provide a frame for the pretending to be patient Monty. I sure know what you mean re the early darkness this time of year and the gardens screaming for attention. It is windy and rainy here today so I'm going to pass on the garden and hopefully get a hike
Beautiful wide photo Judith ...is it your wide angle lens? so much to see & the light & long path in front of us as we look down to the bottom of the trees. Perfect little Lowry figures dotted about & there is a very unusually lying down waiting Monty!!
@blightygal Bum! Heaters always break when it's cold. My daughter segued from murder scene student house into being trapped on a train with sexist, racist, drunk morons. In the end she told them Birmingham International station was Coventry & they got off - life lessons...
A lovely panorama viewed large and such a lot of golden detail. I've just shut my backdoor and am ignoring the garden and the leaves. Hopefully they'll all blow away!
That view's looking quite wintry now. Good work on the garden - ours is still the wasteground we inherited - apart from our own herb pots we brought with us - so we're not likely to go in there much I think to do anything - unless we get our act together to sort out the fencing.
Love the composition here
