Monty and I had an entertaining walk around the local neighbourhood with Rebecca and Gloria at lunchtime. These trees practically bent over and smacked me round the head shouting, 'Photograph!' Rebecca held on to Monty while I got the camera out and tried to wave it around in time with the vigorously swaying branches. I've no idea what variety this is but if the old adage about good berries meaning a bad winter is true we are in for trouble (the scientific part of me says it must be much more to do with the previous spring). The birds are out in force in the street trees feasting on the red berries and crab apples which hopefully explains why there are none in my garden.
I have spent the afternoon making a pair of curtains - only about three miles of hand hemming to do now...
Three GT
1. I'm too tired to work out the hemming tonight so time to comment on 365 instead.
2. A beautiful blue sky after yesterday's hideousness - and apocaplytic snow hasn't arrived yet (does the apocalypse involve snow?)
3. A science program on the radio which spelled out 'RIP Fred Sanger' in DNA using the single letter code for amino acids (ie R= Arginine, I = Isoleucine, P = Proline > AGA ATC CCC etc) which got me trying to remember the single letter codes for amino acids and I haven't completely lost my marbles.
...and Sensational suburbia it is Judith...fantastic vibrant colours...is it two plants pyracantha and virginia creeper mixed together ...or maybe it's a variety of pyracantha...anyway a fab "Sensational suburbia" image :)
Wow - that's pretty impressive! Love the dark branches on it too. I've just listened to that programme too - are you a geneticist then? I remember you saying in an earlier post that he was a leader in your field.
Beautiful colour & those berries a real bonus...I didn't see them until I looked large. Monty looked a great help in making curtains , you will both sleep tonight!!
Wow, that's pretty gorgeous, especially against that blue sky. We had rain and gloom all day :( I was listening to a radio programme about your Mr Sanger today - seems he was a jolly clever chap. You unfortunately lost me half way through the 3rd GT!
@judithg Hi Judith, so kind of you to ask. This left hand hasn't gone quite so smoothly as the right one. It's 3 weeks now so should be moving on and using more properly although lightly. Generally the wound site is ok and healing. However it can take up to 3 months to get movement and grip better and actually about a year for the hand to really be stronger. I can't hold my camera properly and even using iPad and just tapping hurts fingers, so it's a slow job with one hand. Have some arthritis I think in the thumb joint and think that got pulled about in op, so whole hand is not quite so good. It's just a time thing. It's nice to look at people shots even if not commenting. Your recent dog shot with shawl just so made me laugh! She looked so cute. You have a very busy life, I am amazed that you fit 365 in, although when you are out and about shots do sometimes present themselves more. I always enjoy your 3 things. Maybe in the
spring if I am coming into Cambridge we could get to say hello somewhere central. Bye for now.
