We headed off to my dad's belated 80th birthday party at my sister's house yesterday, starting with a diversion to drop Monty at the kennel. When he got in to the car he did a big yelp so Nigel lifted him out to have a little wander around while I did the paperwork, rather than have him jolt himself climbing out. When I went out to get him he was back in the car because Nigel said he was shivering and when we took him in to his nice kennel room which has a full-size human bed he ignored it, staggered into the basket and sat there shaking from head to toe. So we gathered him up again and took him with us - it seemed highly unlikely that he would be jumping up at anybody and he hasn't been fussing to go out for a walk. Needless to say when we got there the painkillers had kicked in and he was quite lively (I was mightily relieved as he looked dreadful at the kennel) but not as much trouble as normal!
Anyway - a lovely party was had by all and it was great to see everybody and swap Christmas presents ready for the big day etc.
My dad here with the cake which managed to survive the journey despite the pot-holes en route to the kennel.
3 GT:
1. My dad looking a lot younger than 80 IMO.
2. The journey could have been a lot worse - traffic and weather not too dreadful for the time of year.
3. My sister for doing the 'do' when she only finished school on Friday and has been given the traditional Christmas lurgy by her pupils.
Is say your dad looks incredibly good, he looks more like 60! Lovely looking cake, and none the worse for the pot hole fiasco. I told you Monty was highly intelligent, he had you both fooled, did he enjoy the party? Seriously I hope he is ok, I know he wasn't looking happy when I saw you last week.
@lucypics I was going to give him an Oscar - he could be the next Lassie... I would have left him but the kennel was very busy and it didn't seem fair on the owner who would have been fretting about him and in and out every two minutes. Plus he gave me the eyes ;0)
Your dad's looking good for 80. Sorry Monty's not well. Is it his age? My dog is 12 now and some days he runs round like a puppy, but then he feels it the next day.
Bet the poor old boy thought well that worked anyway....he didn't want to miss all the partying & your dad would have been pleased to see him I bet! Dad looks a very smart man & his cake is magnificent...made by you ?
Very considerate of him to have a birthday just before Christmas so all can meet up.
@dh No he's only 6 - vet says it could be a slipped disc. More investigations after Christmas. @happypat if I'd made the cake it would look like Monty's handiwork. Patisserie Valerie did the honours - very tasty and with Carole's buffet as well I didn't need to eat again till hours later!
Your Dad looks amazing for 80 Judith! My Mum is 84 and also looks and acts like she is years younger!! Wishing you a Happy Christmas and New Year.......
Your dad looks amazing...I'm hard pressed to believe he's celebrating 80 years. If that birthday cake tasted as good as it looks, it had to have been heavenly. Hating to hear that your buddy, Monty, is having such a painful time, poor guy!
Very considerate of him to have a birthday just before Christmas so all can meet up.
