Not necessarily my favourite stall holder but he did give me free daffs last year after i bought two lots of 'fancy' ones in a row that turned out to be 'common' ones. At this time of year it is very cheering. A very strong low sun was better than the grey days we've been having but made for very challenging photography. These were in the shade and Monty had ground to a halt again by the sweet stall so I had a bit of time while Nigel tried to coax him into moving. He is desperate to go to his old haunts (Jesus Green is calling him) but he isn't allowed to play with his hoops for at least another 7 weeks.
First school hockey game of the season - lost but not outclassed.
Three GT:
1. The school was full of youngsters taking the entrance tests this morning - I'm sure it is only 10 minutes since Adam sat his and I still remember that he enjoyed it all - especially the biscuits with purple icing at break time and the muffins with purple sprinkles (school colour) at lunchtime.
2. The boy in front of him for the interview who asked the teacher whether he'd like to see him doing the splits. The teacher declined the offer but he did get a place and started a knitting club (which only ever had one member).
3. G & T
G&T a new bottle opened in this house tonight!!
Lovely flowers so welcome at this time of the year, I particularly like the teazel ones... flower seller with class!
A rather strange boy in a knitting club for one......good for the school to cater for all tastes.
@happypat Eryngium I think - I tried growing them for a while but my neighbour's walnut tree killed it eventually. An eccentric boy but the school is excellent with eccentrics - as Adam says, the world needs all types....
Oho and look at that pussy willow. You can put those straight in the ground and bobs your uncle! Glad Monty is improving albeit slowly. Wish I could have a G&T, more teenage party runs!!!
@fueast Oh and I was enjoying blaming my neighbour - he has left a whole load of excess Christmas rubbish on the pavement all week for the foxes/dogs/our cat to get in to - drives me crazy - filthy house as well though I notice his Christmas house sitters cleaned up - bitch bitch....
@lucypics Yes - I meant to mention that as a 'good thing' - proper seasonal hope for spring! I'm on for a Gogs walk whenever you fancy (not a fast day if the cafe is on the agenda!) - he's not allowed toys but he can wander off-lead.
@judithg oo so you're one of those neighbours... I can beat that actually. My neighbours had a bloody wood burner fitted before Christmas. The (shared) drive has been full of bags of rubble ever since. They don't have a car and are trying to get rid of it all via the bin bit by bit. Anyway, decided to ignore it because too many other things to stress about!
@lucypics Although getting Rachel a car was entirely against my better judgement she hardly drinks (especially at home) so is absolutely available for doing party runs for her brother :0)
Lovely flowers. I've always like Cambridge market. I love the sound of the knitting boy. I bet he will be famous one day. I have grown Eryngium. but don't think I have got any at the moment. It likes rubbishy, well drained soil, so maybe yours is too good.
