Empty bed by judithg

Empty bed

It's very odd Monty not being at home. The vet student who's following his case called me this morning to say that he's having his operation tomorrow morning - they had to line up X-ray, MRI, operating theatre, anaesthetist and surgeon so unfortunately it couldn't happen today. They also have to take him off the steroids or he won't heal quickly so they have him dosed up with morphine and paracetomol and he's all snuggled up with lots of fleeces and blankets and toys. He apparently didn't want his breakfast (side effect of the drugs) so they got him fresh chicken and he changed his mind! I could go and visit and take blankets from home but they strongly hinted that he is pretty settled, bonded with the nurse who has been spoiling him (obviously that's not true - he's bonded with me!! ;0)) and it is probably better to leave him undisturbed. I'm sure that's the case - turning up and going away would be hard all round and I imagine with all the methadone he's on he must be pretty spaced out. The operation is fiddly but the outcome is good - I imagine not having something pressing on your spinal cord any more must make you very happy indeed. Apologies for lack of commenting - yesterday really got away from me and I have loads to do tonight but I will do what I can.
Three GT:
1. I will be busy tomorrow morning when he's 'being done'.
2. They are sorting him out before something acute happens which would have a much worse outcome.
3. Experts.
All fingers and paws crossed here for everything to go well tomorrow.

I'm sorry Judith, my english isn't good enough to understand what Monty has. I understood he'll go on surgery tomorrow. Hope he gonna be ok soon and what he has isn't too bad. Poor Monty :(

Awww, poor Monty. I really hope it all goes well for him. He's in good hands, so try not to worry too much.

I do feel so sorry for you all.......sometimes worse for the one at home than the patient. Look at his poor pathetic empty bed.....you will be so glad to have him home again. We left our old Jenny at the vets for almost a week the year before she died ...it was a very long week & you think about them constantly. Good thoughts & prayers for Monty tomorrow. Chin up !!

Sending good thoughts to Monty and his family! Given that Monty is dosed up on morphine and being well looked after, this situation is much harder on those left waiting. Monty will be home and feeling so much better in no time. Hang in there, Judith. Hugs to you.

I can imagine how worried you are! Hope you manage to get some sleep! The only good thing you can do is be there when he wakes up if you are allowed! The photo is a nice tribute!

Fingers crossed! Glad you are busy this morning. And don't worr, he hasn't really bonded with the nurse. He's just pretending in case there's any more chicken going begging.

@parisouailleurs Il a une hernie discale - in his neck (they will confirm with MRI (IRM in French??) this morning and then remove it).
January 29th, 2014
@jantan Apparently they score him for eating and he is getting 10/10!! On three strong painkillers now - we are going to have to find him a dealer at this rate ;0)

I think I'm due for one of those, in February, I bet I don't get fed chicken though.... if you're a hippy chick and that way inclined, look at the empty bed and send him positive thoughts.... or on the other paw, go out and check out good walks to take him on... he's in good hands . thinking of you both.... Mark
