I had a phone call from the doggy neurologist this morning and he said that Monty's MRI scan had indeed shown a slipped disc. In fact he used the words 'huge' and 'massive' and 'severe spinal cord compression' so I feel lucky that he hasn't shown any signs of paralysis - the prognosis in those cases is not so good. So it was an easy decision to go ahead with the surgery which took three hours but went very well and the boy is now up and about and walking properly (and has done a massive wee (sorry!)) so all the signs are good. They will drop the painkillers off pretty quickly now and we will have him home on either Friday or Monday.
It's a huge relief and I celebrated by going out to my friend Elizabeth's exhibition with Adam who is on the look out for ideas for his next art exam. This is one of her very amazing 12 layer screen prints.
Four GT:
1. Monty will feel so much better - I'm sure this has been troubling him on and off for months now I know the signs.
2. The rest of his discs looked good.
3. Lots of lovely people sending good wishes.
4. Fantastic feedback from Adam's art teachers for his lovely coursework.
Oh poor Monty. Having lived with a hubby who has suffered with exactly this condition I know how painful it can be. Good to know he's fixed now and on the mend xx
Lovely looking exhibition, I'm looking for cludo pieces! So glad Monty is heading in theorist direction, can't stop thinking of him. Will make him some liver cake for, when I next see you x
Thrilled to hear that Monty is doing so well. Even feeling a bit emotional about his enormous wee.... Mind you it doesn't take much to make me feel emotional these days.
Having done a bit of screen printing, looking at how complicated that one seems, your friend must have the patience of a saint.
Such wonderful news Judith....he will be better than new when he comes home!! I think you should go into training for the energetic renewed dog he is going to be...he will be taking you walks!!!
You will be all counting the days until you can pick him up....would love to be there when he sees you!!!
I'm unforgivably behind but very glad to slope over apologetically to post a holding comment and read Monty's doing ok. What a massive relief that must be.
I don't know the technique for screening printing but this is pretty cool of your friend's - I like it.
So glad to hear about Monty - I'm really behind at the moment so missed the last few updates. What a relief - it did sound as if you thought there was something more than just steroids could fix. Hopefully he'll be back to normal soon.
Awesome news for you and Monty - finally he can be his old playful self again. Hope he recovers quickly! This exhibition looks really cool! Maybe you could show us some of Adam's art work if he doesn't mind - I'd love to see his talent (which he probably got from his mum).
