Actually I put these apples on the table for @lucypics but then forgot to take them last time we walked at The Gogs (a fateful day as it turns out as poor Monty struggled round with me telling him off for dawdling - the sign of things to come!) A female blackbird was tucking in and I grabbed a shot but the camera was set on the wrong white balance and she flew off before I could change settings - but Rachel pointed out that she had been chased away by this brazen male. Don't view large - pretty rubbish by 365 standards!
So - I'm feeling dreadful about poor commenting and thought I would have a quiet evening to catch up but Rachel is home (hurrah!) for various karate events (not so hurrah) and as she had driven home in the spray I offered to drive her up to Huntingdon for the evening class. So that's 2 x 1 hour round trips which doesn't leave me much of a window…
3GT:
1. Lovely to see Rachel & she arrived safely
2. Adam staying over at a friend's tonight which means we can have a lie in
3. The hospital folks are really pleased with Monty today - I picked up a voicemail so couldn't ask if he'll be home tomorrow but I'm guessing they'll let him out. He's a trooper so I'm not surprised - hope he wants to come home - he's been properly spoilt by the sounds of things.
Nothing wrong with this pic Judith - it's really nice to see him amongst the apples! Glad Monty is coming along - bless him! You will be glad to have him home
@jantan that's exactly what I said to Adam when he asked why I was taking Rachel when she's got a car... And then he agreed with me - well he wanted to go out on a school night! I've bought Monty a new mattress and a new monkey today - just in case he didn't want to come home ;0)
I've just returned from a place called Huntingdon Park - its in Canterbury, NZ though! Good picture of the blackbird- one of the 4 & 20 baked in an apple pie?
For some reason this reminds me of the Beatles 'White Album'...perhaps it's the British blackbird. :) Delightful composition here, Judith. I wouldn't give commenting a second thought with all that you have on your plate at the moment. I'd say it's pretty amazing you have time to even post a photo. I do hope that Monty will be released to the loving care of his family today. Will be looking for updates...
Happy looking bird. Hope Monty is allowed out today - I'm sure he'll be delighted to be home. When we get back from holiday, even though Luna's been boarded with our dog walker and has constant company of other dogs and loads of walks she's always delighted to be home and rushes around fitting all her normal routines that she spreads through the day into about 30 minutes.
Don't worry I will brush them off, sure nobody will notice! Yes, I remember that day, poor Monty, still no good thinking back onwards and upwards!! me Blackbird looks like the cats whose got the cream! Have a lovely WE x
I know Monty is not home yet poor boy........will be lapping up all the attention! Never thought to put apples out for the birds & even though you forgot them this blackbird is loving them.
Rachel is hopping backwards & forwards in her car then....hope you are coping with the worries!
@happypat Well I try not to think about it but it's nerve-wracking when I know she's on the road! We always leave some apples for the birds but it wasn't these!
