Another hot humid day and I decided I had to get myself out of the lethargic slump I had descended into and took Monty off to Rampton for a walk along the lode. While walking from the car I spotted some hay bales and decided I would divert off and attempt an @fueast style wide angle arty shot. Somewhere along the line I missed the field and ended up in a wood which was so dappled and cool and lovely that I stayed and it really was idyllic with butterflies galore. And then I found that I wasn't coming out where I thought I'd come out and I remembered the really scary, nasty scene in Sebastian Faulkes's "Engleby' which happens in Rampton (a really clever book - I recommend it), and I nettled my ankles and suddenly it wasn't paradise any more. Anyway I calmed down and all was well.
I may have to read that book you recommended. I loved your write up fo today. and this hoverfly on Thistle...and that link to Alison T's wide angle paradise pic. so thanks!
Lovely shot especially the co-ordinating bokeh, I wonder if Jinks out on the loose last night, felt at any time like you. Probably not, the little rascal!
A beautiful woody light on this thistle.......you can tell the light is coming from a source above. How lovely to spend time in a shady wood with just you & Monty....bet he had a ball sniffing & snuffling!i must check out Engleby.....I haven't read that one.
