I haven't been to the river at Milton since the stormy weather - the willows on the towpath quite often fall over even without the assistance of wind so I didn't want to take the risk! This grebe is in the process of converting from summer to winter colours according to my pocket guide book. Other sightings were heron in the field, a jay, the usual ducks, geese and moorhens and my friend the kingfisher. He/she flew out from the bank on my side of the river over to the willow they live in - I got a couple of shots on the wing and on a branch - if only I had a big fat birdwatching zoom lens! Next time I will set my camera to 'sports' in advance instead of thinking about it...
Huge thanks for the lovely comments on my bridge shot.
Fab shot. Lovely reflection and water ripples. Interested to see that they change their coats. I was thinking that it looked quite pale. What a good collection of birds there.
