Saved! by judithg

Saved!

Our splendid firefighters were out on the river practising river rescues today. Warm on the bank but a bit cold in the river I suspect! This is the nearest I'm going to get to being a photojournalist - and not just for the obvious reasons of lack of talent - I knocked the white balance of my camera to 'Tungsten' and have had to get Picnik to save this from an overwhelming blue hue. No - we had a fabulous and fascinating visit to the Newseum in Washington DC in the summer and although their exhibition of Pulitzer prize-winning photos was amazing I can't imagine being able to stand and take pictures of some of the scenes. Many were harrowing, others intimate and heart-breaking. The photographers had found it hard too - at least one having commited suicide - a tough job. WELL worth a visit if you're ever in DC - lots of discussions of ethical issues and fun stuff for kids too.
At least we know this one has a happy ending! And hopefully they will not need to use these skills, but nice to know they are working on them. Just in case. Nice shot.

Great lighting here Judith and some nice reflections too.

You know what I'm going to say , beause I love letterbox crops.........a crop so we only have the two front fire fighters in view, works well too :)

You've done well to recover this image...you could say your fire fighters 'saved it' !!
