Berlin has great windows!! These are in the Sony Centre with reflections of the sails in the roof. Designed by Helmut Jahn as part of the redevelopment of Potsdamer Platz this is a real symbol of the regeneration of Berlin. On the other hand I was rather sad to see that Museum Island looks more messy and run down than when I visited in 1990 - it has magnificent museums and amazing collections (which make Britain's acquisition of the Elgin Marbles look like shoplifting at the Pick & Mix counter) but the outside is in dire need of TLC which I imagine is being planned. We went in the Film Museum in the Sony Centre which I found interesting but it lost the kids a bit (lots of Marlene Deitrich) apart from the incredible 'Metropolis' effect entrance with stunning use of mirrors (and no photos allowed :0( )
