This is the original sign which is now inside the Checkpoint Charlie Museum. I don't think there can be another city with as many '20th Century museums' as Berlin. They are facing up to a terrible century with information centres at the remnants of the Gestapo headquarters, the Stasi headquarters, at Checkpoint Charlie, the Holocaust Memorial, the GDR museum etc etc. In amongst the horror are stories of immense courage and fortitude displayed by ordinary Berliners.
This is so awesome. Thanks for sharing. I someday hope to go to Berlin, but I didn't know that the history is there out in the open like that. Makes me want to go even more. It's important for this to be that way.
