(Someone Else's) Memories for Sale

It always unsettles and intrigues me when I see old photographs for sale in antique shops. I mean, where do these come from, and who would buy them? And WHY?

But is it sad that they are for sale? - or good that they haven't just ended up in the trash?

Yes, very strange Julie, but I suppose it is perhaps better that they're not in the trash, but I can't imagine who would buy them. I like the way your highlighted the one on the bottom left - how did you manage to do that?

I find it particularly poignant how many photographs there are in the world for whom there are no owners or people who can identify them.

It always bothers me too...I wonder wow...what about their family..and is this where I will end up. It is a burden to leave your children with10 books filled with people you don't know..what do you do with them? So this is a great shot and question! :)

It's a puzzle I think. I do have some photos of unknown relatives a couple of generations back and they will never be identified but I don't think I could put them up for sale.
