I find horsetails fascinating. I see a lot of these "living fossils" growing beside roads and paths around here. They are a very primitive plants which apparently first appeared around 300 million years ago and genetically they have changed little in all that time. They are also related to the giant tree-like plants which formed enormous forests in prehistoric times. They are reported to have all sorts of medicinal qualities - but I confess I've not given any of them a try!
