Settling down for the night

This is some video footage I took on Friday of Starlings coming in to roost at Ham Wall Nature Reserve in Somerset. It's not that great quality but it gives an impression of the mad swirling whirlwind of birds all trying to find the perfect reed head on which to roost for the night. It's hard to convey the amazing effect of all those wings and the dizzying movement of thousands of birds.
Julienne that was so cool

Wow, what an amazing spectacle! Incredible that there are no collisions with them flying so close together and at such high speed

@_catherine_ - yes it's intriguing how they manage to navigate so well that they never collide when there is so much happening!
