Green blackthorn

I've never seen the hedgerow branches so covered in green algae, or maybe lichen - not sure really! it seems to be quite widespread this year and makes the hedges look very green despite it being mid-winter. Maybe it's because it's been so mild?
Wicked! And very green. Have no idea why the algae, but it makes for an interesting photo.

@shepherdmanswife well you'd think that, but this hedge actually faces south and is on top of a hill, so it gets plenty of sun
