Upside-down hippos? by julienne1

Upside-down hippos?

No.... just some more King Alfred's Cake fungus growing on an old tree. I posted some here last year http://365project.org/julienne1/365/2015-02-27 . This clump is much largers than I've seen before - about 15 cm long.
Weird stuff!

I agree with Peter. You never know what you'll see on 365. That's why it's so much fun and educatioal too!

@amfrumbiddivurd - it is extremely weird!

@peterday - they seem to pop up all over the place here

@gijsje - yes it looks like all sorts of other things (a pile of horse dung springs to mind) but not much like any other fungus

@nydelignorsk - yes I do enjoy the weird and wonderful subjects that crop up here
January 28th, 2016
@christophercox - yes they are a bit like bulbous slugs
January 28th, 2016
@shirleybankfarm - I guess they are a bit like puff ball fungus ... except they are hard rather than puffy!
January 28th, 2016
@blackmutts - there is certainly an element of creepiness about them!
