Looe's solitary Eider drake gathering momentum to take off. I understand that he, or probably he, has overwintered in Cornwall for the last three years. It just seems a shame to see him all on his own amongst the immature herring gulls. I'm just hoping that he has the nowse to get himself a few hundred miles north to find himself a mate before breeding time. Meanwhile we have now lifted off from Cornwall back to Somerset!
This reminds me of a push along duck toy my daughter had when she was little. Its feet where on the wheels and rotated when pushed...it had the same determined look about it as your Elder duck. Thanks for sharing your holiday snaps. I've enjoyed them.
