Pendulous Sedge (Carex pendula) by julienne1

Pendulous Sedge (Carex pendula)

There is lots of this sedge growing in the woods round here where the ground is damp and rough. Each stem usually has on or two male catkin-like spikes at the top and several female spikes below. In the picture the yellow fluffy spike is the male and you can see two female spikes either side. They are very attractive to look at with the drooping stems hanging gracefully and look great in flower arrangements (not that I'm good at that sort of thing!)
Fascinating!

Beautiful, I am not sure I have ever seen sage in person (I live in the Northeast of the US)
