May by julienne1

May

The hawthorn, or May, is the only British plant to be named after the month in which it blooms. It's not surprising I suppose when it so dominates the countryside at this time of year. It's easy to overlook how beautiful the individual flowers are in the midst of its white profusion - but they are wonderfully intricate and colourful when you look up close.

A great close-up. I didn't realise the stamen were so purple and there are some pretty raindrops to add to this pretty picture.

Not out yet up north, looking forward to it but we need a few days of sunshine. Such a pretty image.
