Not a terribly clear picture taken at Greylake nature reserve. The grey heron on the lower right was aggressively seeing off the great white egret upper left. The egret had been peacefully sitting preening his gorgeous white feathers when the grey heron flew in and, squawking loudly, proceeded to chase the egret round and round for some time before they settled down and ignored one another!
Grey herons are big bullies! But I have seen a great egret see off a grey heron then feed sociably with a little egret at Rutland water, great egrets are HUGE!
