Don't you just hate it when you have a little beastie tickling you in an awkward out of reach place? I also find it amazing that this big bird is managing to balance on what looks like a rather slender twig! This is one of the grey herons nesting high up in the ancient oaks in Swell Wood which is an RSPB reserve near where I live in Somerset. So many herons (which are certainly not sociable birds) nesting in close proximity makes for a lot of raucous squabbling! I think this bird was trying to find a quiet spot to do some peaceful preening!
