This is an area of verge in our village that is usually mowed regularly. This year it has been left and Pyramid orchids have sprung up everywhere! In all the time I've been here I've never seen so many! It just goes to show that sometimes it's better not to be too tidy.
“Tidy” is, as you say, not always the best thing. Delighted that those responsible for mowing have seen sense and left the verge alone - but no doubt there will be letters and phone calls of complaint.
