Today my Son volunteered to help tag wild ducks for the Acclimatisation Society,.. Traps were set last night and baited with corn and they went into the cages.. they were in several pens .. Two Acclimatisation members and two Auckland Zoo ,Sexed, aged and identified there breed and then put a tag on their leg and then released... Two of my Granddaughters also helped and they had the job of getting into the cage and handing the ducks to the guys and they then handed them to the taggers... At the end of the session 285 ducks had been tagged .. which was up on past years... and the cages will be set again tonight and do the job again .. and hope not too many of today's Ducks get caught again..
What a brilliant set of image - I'll be the girls really enjoyed helping on this job. Such farm girls to be getting in amongst the big jobs. It would have been a very interesting day.
@dide@seacreature@lyndamcg@maggiemae Yes very proud Maggie of both Son and Grandies... There were alot of questions when we got home as to why the man with the hat on was tipping the ducks up.. Farm girls really do learn a lot of life leasons...
