FG and I are away on holiday at the moment and this evening while out chasing the setting sunlight, we came across this beautiful beach that we had all to ourselves.
This is the site of Wharetaewa Pa which was the site where in 1769 Captain James Cook came ashore and experienced his first Powhiri (welcome) from the local Maori people.
