Kahikatea's..

Dacrycarpus dacrydiodes... Kahikatea or White Pine.. Common in the North Island swamp land and was used for the exporting of butter as the wood is odour free and so the boxes were made of the wood.. Also used for boat building until the 1970's ... these tree's are estimated to be 80 - 100 years old .. they are frequently under water and you can see the 'tide' mark on the tree's

Oh we will have to export more to you ... people seem to be going away from the margarine and butter is now not so bad for you .. you never know what the trends are going to be ..
