Look! Another picture of my parent’s cat, Pancho. What can I say? He always poses so nicely. I was at my parent’s house today for a ‘Celebration of Life’ for my grandmother who passed away a couple weeks ago. It was a nice day. It was extremely hot, but considering that she loved that kind of weather, it seemed appropriate. I enjoyed meeting some of her friends and hearing stories about things she had done in her past. Also, for the ceremony I put together a slideshow of images of her. In order to do this I went through many of her photo albums. It was very interesting, especially the older ones. Pictures of her trip across the country in the late 50’s (56 I think) were awesome.
Sorry for the loss of your grandmother, but it's wonderful that you were chosen to make the slideshow for her. No doubt it brought you closer to her and the life she led before you were born. I hope you'll treasure those good and lasting memories!
Louise - I Was very honored to do the slideshow. I learn things about her I never knew. She was the kind of grandmother that we would see a couple times of years on holidays (my dad's family is not close, which is the exact opposite of my mom's family, also, she is my dad's step-mother, though she is the only grandmother I have ever really knonw on the side of the family), so there was a lot I didn't know about her. Also, at the gathering I got to meet one of her friends that was in all the pictures with her from 1956. She told me stories of their trip across the country and other adventures. It was very all so interesting. While I wish I would have know these things about her while she was alive, I am very greatful that I know them now.
