OK. Having read the infographic on your post, I realise why I end up deleting most of my BIF photos. The trouble is, by the time you have followed all those instructions, surely the bird is well on its way across to the other side of the world! I like in this shot, the way the ripples in the water seem to flow with the movement of the bird. It works for me as an impressionistic shot.
This is great! Your focal length is 250 and yet the bird fills the frame so nicely. Did you manage to get fairly close to this gull or is this highly cropped (if you don't mind me asking)
I used my 300 telephoto but then, did not zoom all the way on the birds like I should have. it is a tough challenge!
@farmreporter i tried to work the zoom but it is tricky, especially to track the birds when fully zoomed in, i had birds pretty close to me as they were busy feeding at the rivermouth, while some circled in and around, so i had a lot of wing tips cut and so on, hence my outttakes collage . it certainly is a skill
@helenhall haha yes it can be a bit much at first but if you can preset the camera according to the suggestions, you can then focus yourself on just keeping them in the frame

Love your impressionistic bird!
