"I get better pictures when I stand in front of better stuff." This was stated by Jim Richardson, a National Geographic photographer who presented a workshop in Kansas City with Catherine Karnow. So, today, I drove slowly down a country road, north of Burlingame, KS looking for treasure. Suddenly, this beautiful bird showed up. Instead of being satisfied with a few still-shots, I decided to follow Catherine's advice: "The key is to stick with a situation. Surprises might happen." I did, and I got lots of them! Just to prove it, I assembled a few of my favorites in this collage. Speaking of surprises, this bird snuck on over to Kansas from Oklahoma. Enlarge for better appreciation.
Each shot is very good in its own right but together they are superb. What a great collage. Thank you for sharing these nuggets of advice from your class. I can see the value in both and will try to put both into practice.
