My siblings and I spent several hours this past weekend discovering many hidden gems my mother, who passed away last September, kept tucked away in various nooks and crannies in her home. One of those surprises included handwritten poems I'd never seen before. This one truly touched my heart because it involves one of my mom's favorite pastimes - sitting on my front porch and gazing at the surroundings. She used to chide me for not doing the same. Here is her poem she called "The Sun at the King Farm."
The Sun at the King Farm
By Marilyn Brende Freeze
The sun shone through a misty haze that day
Taunting me to look directly into her core
Daring me to find the fire behind her ever watching eye
The clouds frolicked with her
Trying to cover her with their opaqueness
But she resisted
And shimmered down on me
With layers of circling, dancing ribbons
Dazzling my heart and eye
What a beautiful appropriate photo to go with your mother's heart warming poem :) And I must add that sorting through your mother's belongings brings tears, laughter and wonderful memories that all help with the grieving. fav
