Today I saw my Guinea Fowl in the dirt throwing it all over themselves. So I went home and googled my question about this. Sure enough, Guinea Fowl take dust baths but mine were taking a dirt bath. Evidently it helps them control little creatures like mites and lice that get on them. Living at the barn exposes me to interesting habits of my animals.
God !!!-----i love where you live and all ur cool friends--than stuck with annoying neighbors who torture me every night by playing LOUD & ANNOYING noise-!!!:(
@jodimuli I have noise too! it is just different! dogs barking at coyotes, gun shots and birds. Haha! It would be amazing to see what type of pictures you could create here.
Oh wow that is so very interesting! I never knew that either :) Very cool to find out something new everyday! :) Love the fluffy feathers :) What a soft (and muddy) looking fella :)
I think a lot of birds take dust baths for that same reason. I've seen sparrows doing it here. It's so interesting how they instinctively know that they need to do that. Watching animals, and nature in general, is so much more fun than watching TV. :-)
