Rita at The Carter Family Fold by kathyladley

Rita at The Carter Family Fold

Rita is the granddaughter of the original Carters which are shown in the stained glass to the left of the photo. She is very kind and has labored hard keeping The Fold going.

In 1927 the original Carters recorded music for the Victor Talking Machine Company in Bristol, TN. They laid the foundation for what we know as country music today. As a result the original Carter family became known as the First Family of Country Music.

Carter Family Fold keeps this old time and bluegrass music alive. Johnny Cash was married to June Carter Cash so they played here many times.

Saturday evenings people from all walks of life and all over the world come together here. People from the age of two to over eighty years of age clog and dance to this wonderful music.

How wonderful! And how great an experience
