The Octagon House by khawbecker

The Octagon House

In 1814, after the British burned the White House, President and Mrs. Madison moved to this house, the Octagon House. It was completed in 1801 by the original architect of the U.S. Capitol building for the Tayloe family. In the upstairs parlor of this house, Pres. Madison signed the Treaty of Ghent on February 17, 1815, re-establishing peace with Great Britain.
As if us nice British would come and burn the White House down. This is a nice looking building, thank you for the capture and history. I'll put my box of matches away now.

@ladymagpie Heather, thank you for the humorous post. It made me laugh out loud. Yes, I'm certain we have nothing to fear from the British today.
