I'm going to give the September challenge a go. Day one is a self portrait. I know this is rather a boring shot, but I'm having trouble without a tripod to get a shot. Also having problems with focus... I need some tips from the experts. Any suggestions welcome :)
Doesn't look too bad to me at all...you always look so fresh and natural in any shot I've seen you in. My only thing would be to edit the bit of blue at your arm out, 'cos that dark background is great.
Your selfie is better than any of mine - Only part of me ever makes it in to them :) I know the trick with portraits is to make sure the eyes are in focus, but not sure the best way to do that with selfies.
Great selfie! I am still working on the focus for selfies, too. Put your lens on manual focus and put something where you are going to stand or sit and focus on it (vacuum, stuffed animal, etc.) . Then put the timer on and get to the spot, quickly tossing the item you used to stand in for you. It's still hard to get perfect, but this has helped me a lot. It's fun you are attempting the September 30 day challenge as well!
@catmac I'm still working on it, can't say I'm that happy with it but at least I posted it.. ha ha. @kris76 Hello my beautiful friend :) @giselle You're right, that blue did bother me a bit but I guess my editing skills aren't too great so I left it!! I chose this one because of the soft focus so you can't see my wrinkles so well. @alia_801 Thank you. I have no idea how to focus on my eyes when they are not there. Perhaps I should just invest in a remote! @jquinn Thanks Janet. I've never noticed your selfie's not in focus. You do a great job. @tinatmmc That pretty much sums up what I've been doing. Quite time consuming but entertaining none the less. Not going so well with the Sept challenge, but will try to make up for my missed days next month! @cristenfarrell I'd love to get a remote, one day. But then I'd have no excuses would I?!
@pengo Its not easy especially when your head is in the middle of the room so it's hard to substitute that open space for something. I did use my daughters teddy bear on another occasion and now I have a tripod at least. I think MF is the way to go!
