Whole30 Snack by kiwichick

Whole30 Snack

So I'm into day three of the Whole30 Program. Up until a few weeks ago I didn't even know what it was, although it sounds like it's been around for about 10 years.

It's basicly 30 days of eating healthy - no sugar, dairy, grains or legumes. Some of these are excluded because there are a lot of sensitivities or intolerances to them. What you can eat are vegetables, fruits, meat, healthy fats and nuts excluding peanuts, eggs and fruit juice (in moderation). Here is the website for more details https://whole30.com/

I noticed a group of people on facebook were starting it and setting up a support group to get through, so last minute I decided to jump in. Day one went okay until the coffee withdrawal migraine set in. Although (surprisingly) you can have coffee, for me drinking it without milk and honey just isn't an option. The last few days have been better, although I'm feeling tired and lethargic. Saying that, one of the reasons I decided to give this a go is that I often feel fatigued and low on energy. So I'm hoping this will change after completing the thirty days (or sooner!).

If anyone else has given this a go I'd love to hear how you went :)
I no so set you sometimes feel fatigued.. you have 3 busy kids to run around after.. good luck with this .. I like the look of this snack.. cranberries give you the sweet treat...

Probably quite a good way to do it -just for 30 days means you could keep focused a bit more easily (won't last forever!). However to my thinking dairy, grains and legumes are whole food. Not eating sugar or processed is a very good thing :-) Good luck.

Good luck with your program! Don't forget that those healthy choices also pack a lot of calories! ;-)

I just read something yesterday while researching a similar 30 day challenge that said the fatigue is normal because it's your body's way of withdrawing from the addiction of grains and sugar and the fatigue should subside in a few days or so. Good luck with it!

@tina_mac Yes the first two weeks are the hardest while your body adjusts. After that you start feeling a nice even energy throughout the day. I'm looking forward to that!

sounds great except for the no legumes... the grains might be difficult to go without too. glad you will share with us how it is going.
feeling more energy would be a big plus for me. I had a friend just finish this plan up.

@julzmaioro @kwind @dkbarnett @laetitiapetrussa @brender @tina_mac @lynnz @gq @gosia Thanks for all your comments. Since posting this and doing a little more reading on the Whole30 I've discovered that 1) Although fruits are good in moderation, dried fruit is off the list because of the high sugar content! and 2) You're supposed to try and stick to 3 meals per day without snacks! I guess because I jumped onboard late I didn't do enough research into it. Oh well, other than that its still going well. Energy is up a little and starting to even out. As I don't eat a lot of meat I'm eating a ton of eggs instead. I'm really looking forward to seeing how things go in the next few weeks. It's a good time of year to try this kind of challenge :)
