To be honest, I was more worried about my family and friends trying to decide whether to evacuate due to the tsunami warnings along the East coast. However being at sea level in the Marlborough Sounds I was still watching the tidal flow quite closely. We had a sleepless night after the midnight massive wake up - shake up quake. Fortunately we are a long way inland from the ocean so there was just a slight tidal surge over the next day or two. Then came the rain and wind!
