The colours of the earth are evident in the sea. At least the sun is shining and the muddy sea will settle down. Here's hoping the earth will also stop shaking.
Have heard loads of reports on the earthquake but not many photos so good to see this. Such terrible damage on that east coast Highway 1, a beautiful drive we were priveledged to rptravel in March. Our granddaughter us helping out with Dunsandel Young Farmers.
This must be a river mouth to be so muddy and with all the rain, not surprised! Muddy down here too. I don't think the earth is going to settle down too soon - too much displacement!
@happypat There are quite a few photos on Facebook of the extensive damage around the beautiful coastline of Kaikoura. It is so sad to think that it may be a long time before we can drive that road again. Great to hear your granddaughter is helping out. Good for her.
@maggiemae The Pelorus river opens into the Pelorus Sound which then sends the debris of driftwood and mud to the Mahau Sound. The logging sites also contribute to the run off of mud into the sea. It should clear soon but it does leave a lasting effect on the marine life. I hope nature's forces will all take a break soon.
@yorkshirekiwi@dawnee@dide It is settling down but I do worry about the fishes. They have stopped harvesting the green shell mussels for this week until it clears.
@kiwinanna That road was the highlight of our trip south Liana, we were amazed how those trucks fitted so closely through those tunnels, amazing drivers, sadly no more bybthe looks of it. I hope they don't divert that road inland as it's a real tourist beauty.
