Oxley's Rock facade by kiwinanna

Oxley's Rock facade

This is a blend between new and old architecture. The Oxley Rock hotel curves around the bend of the waterfront road in Picton at the top of the South Island. It was quite controversial a few years ago when some wanted to retain the 'old world' building yet others wish to modernise. The compromise was to retain the facade and surround it with apartments. Do you think they have merged the two successfully?
I think they have done a pretty good job to merge them. Nice image and history lesson.

Looks respectful of its beginnings without seeming phony.

You can't please everyone - I think they did a decent job of merging the two.

@dide @littleconnie @dawnee @joysabin @farmreporter @bkbinthecity thank you all for taking the time to answering my question. Always good to get other opinions. I think it is a successful blend of old and new too.
