These yellow-tailed cockatoos are doing an amazing job. They are ripping borer larvae out, and causing wounds in the trees that will one day become hollows for many species to breed in. Will take another 100 years or so before the hollows are ready, but mother nature is the best town planner there has ever been.
People often think of things in nature as 'destructive' or a 'pest', but there is always a reason, and I'm grateful they have been cleaning up through my property.
