Green Eggs by lauriehiggins

Green Eggs

People seemed curious about the green eggs, but Jasmine is older and has stopped laying for the season. So this is an old shot of the first two eggs we got from her. It's not the best photo, but I didn't really get anything better on this dark and cloudy day. The shells are a pale greenish-blue, but inside they are just the same as any other eggs.
OMG! Wow! Amazing eggs! I totally understand why you were upset when Jasmine went AWOL! So glad she is back--safe & sound! I hope her next season comes very soon!

Are those giant eggs or tiny hands? I love that hue! When I was thinking about getting chickens, I was thinking about getting the kind that lay these lovely eggs. Oh well, I had foxes instead of chickens...all has worked out OK. I see that the current 365 spammer has found you^. LOL

@robinwarner first of all I second what Robin said. you are so profound and your comments are so compelling.
next, this is such a cool shot. i can't believe you can eat fresh eggs all the time. are these eggs mighty huge or are they being held by small hands? do you think it hurts jasmine when she pops these out or is it just regular business? anyway, good for all you - it seems like she deserves a rest. . .:)

Those are some big green eggs. I wonder what makes them green? Is it what she eats?

Awesome! Never seen eggs like that. Now, those are either really small hands, or really giant eggs!! Maybe a little of both?

@njmeller @yoshi Different breeds lay different colored eggs. We get white, brown and green, and they all eat the same thing.

@carmichaelbev Yes, mums, they are Sky's hands - I miss those grubby little hands so much! She gets down and dirty and you have to love that in a child.

@5unflow3r @aj1268 @stepheesue @melissapike They are tiny hands, but also big eggs. Young chickens lay small eggs every day. The older a chicken gets, the bigger the eggs become, but they don't lay as regularly. Lots of farmers get rid of chickens when they don't produce as often, but ours our pets too, so we'll be keeping the older ladies and enjoying their giant eggs. Jasmine was already older than the rest when we got her because we traded a young rooster for her to be kind to our neighbors. The problem was, the young rooster was our granddaughter's chicken. I thought the colorful eggs would make up for the trade...it did.
