Not! It was cold, windy and cloudy. I thought is was an awful day for photo but these sailing students at the Orleans Yacht Club inspired me. I'm not a fan of taking cloudy day photos, but at least I wasn't out on one of those boats. Plus this really is what Cape Cod looks like in March alot of the time.
I agree with you, Laurie - I don't like taking photos on a dreary day. I am really a sunny day person. But, you're right - March in New England is not the greatest month! I do like the leading lines of the pier - they really draw your eye out to the ocean and boats.
@5unflow3r I could hear the instructors' whistles and shouts from town. They were yelling things like tack. While I watched them all the boats would go in one direction and then they all turned at the same time and went in the opposite direction. So they really were all in a row.
i hope those boats were't tippy - that would be a cold dunk in the water if a mishap took place! seems funny me talking about cold when usually others are commenting on my pics about how cold it looks [even when it's actually very warm!] i like your shot. i see a hit of blue in the sky. great comp as usual
I like the way the walk leads you towards the sailboats. Very dreary though. You should take a look at the blue water in my most recent postings. They will brighten your outlook from dreary to sunny. :D
This is a fantastic shot, Laurie. Love the pier, the sailboats, and even the cloudy sky. I find that I'm becoming more and more of a fan of cloudy-day shots ... out of necessity maybe? :-)
Cloudy day photos are so hard. But I do like the way your cloudy day looks beside the ocean (and with the boats out there). I would definitely go sailing--I'd just drag a bunch of blankets onto my boat and off I'd go (:
