My husband said that is the way I looked in every selfie I took today for the One Night Stand Challenge - worried. I guess that sums up how I felt about this challenge, so I decided to go with the photo that illustrated that emotion the best. Self portraits are really hard to do without a remote. The ten seconds so by so quickly on the timer!
I like this so much more than most selfies. Not just because you are such a beautiful person, but because it is not typical. I think a self portrait should capture a real emotion, and this looks very real to me.
You captured your feelings perfectly! I've never even used the self-timer on my camera (nor do I know how), much less a remote, so maybe that should be my challenge if I ever have to do a selfie again . . . :(
I'm so impressed with the array of creative selfies taken by those of us who hate them. Yours, @northy, @taffy -- I'm learning so much from this group!
I get it - many of the photos in my selfie attempt have a very similar expression!! truly, this has been the biggest challenge of all this week! @orangecrush really helped me push my limits this week! anyway, I like this one of you, concerned look and all - I like that you're gazing into the mysterious distance. good one. And now we're done with these for awhile, right?! xo
I think selfies are so hard......do you smile, do you look away from the camera or at the camera, yuck.......hehe
At least you gave it a go and we get to see you, which is nice:)
@elizabeth264 I loved your selfie, Elizabeth! And your little dog too! I did some that looked like I was sitting for a photographer on a love seat, but in the end went with the most candid one that expressed my nervousness.
You look like you are really fascinated by something. You look great! I have never used a timer for a selfie. I usually just hold the camera up and take some photos, and see what turns out.
You look kind of absorbed by something off camera - and I don't know that I've seen a selfie of you on here before, have I? I love it! Kudos to you and everyone else who was brave enough to put themselves out there for the challenge, except me, who only put my zombie fingers out there, lol. Nice to see your face though:)
@westcoastwallis I did a selfie during Jerry's first challenge too. Hate them. Hate photos of me. But this year is about being more adventuresome and not being afraid to post a sucky photo. Just a photo a day...
How funny is it that my mother and husband hate this photo of me? Husband: You look so worried. Me: Maybe that's the way I always look. Husband: No, it's not. Mom: How did you end up with that hair? Your father and I both have such thick hair. Me: Silence. Mom: I hate to see you look so distressed. Me: Silence.
@webfoot Paul, do you need a remote for that? I was trying to focus on a "fake" me and then running to take the photo for my inside shots. This was on my porch and I just gave up. I think I need a new remote before I do any more selfies, which I probably won't attempt again unless they are part of Jerry's One Night Stand 4 challenge. You are such an ace at them, but I find them distressing. I've never seen a photo of myself that I have liked, except one.
No, you don't need a remote. Just set your camera up for continuous shutter, press the shutter and move into position. Camera should refocus on your and then you can be goofy or whatever in front of the lens.
I usually set my timer to go off three times to do selfies. If fun having just those three chances, then the chance to see what I have before doing more. Have fun, pretend that you're in a photo booth where you do three poses---goofy, serious, fun calm, angry---whatever. It doesn't cost anything and it's actually fun. I have never used a remote for selfies. :-) While you look worried, you do look like you. It a very nice selfie. :-)

Here's a suggestion. Set your camera up for continuous shutter release. It will focus on you and you can get as many shots as possible.
