Support Your Town Heros!

On this 70th anniversary of D-Day, I couldn't help but wonder if this is what our country has come to since then.....a spagetti supper to support a local fire and ambulance department. Maybe I am reading into it and it is just a town social event.....or they just want a piece of "nice to have" equipment. I hope it went well and everyone was generous in their donations. I am sure it was tasty!
Cupcake sales and spaghetti suppers for the things that should be funded with tax dollars bothers me too. I hope that your right and your picture and narrative are great reminders. Thanks, Jae!

@kevin365 Thanks for the support on this one, Kev! You know I have a thing for local heros!

Good point! As @kevin365 reminds us, such services should be tax-funded, but I think it is a good thing to let these important and valuable people know that they are appreciated, and one way of showing it is through events such as this, supported by voluntary donations and helping to keep the tax bill down.

I believe the economy has hit everyone really hard and it has come to this, needing the help of everyone. In the case of emergency departments like this, I think it is only fair for the community to help out since we are the ones who benefit
